Rockville can be found just off of highway I-270 in Montgomery County. It is the county seat and is also considered to be part of the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Getting to Rockville, Maryland is not difficult as there are many major routes that connect to the main road in Rockville – I-270. If driving from the Northeast part of the US, the most popular route is to take I-95 to I-495 and then connect to I-270. However, the trip to Rockville from the Northeast US was made easier in early 2011 with the opening of the ICC (Intercounty Connector)/MD 200. This toll road helps save time by avoiding the often congested I-495 and brings you to the Northern border of Rockville. But be aware that the ICC is an all-electronic toll road meaning you will need to have an EZ-Pass or you will be subject to video tolling. If you are coming from the South, you will take I-95 to I-495 and then connect to I-270. From the West, it is best to take I-70 to I-270. Rockville has four exits off of I-270: Shady Grove Road, West Montgomery Avenue, Falls Road and Montrose Road. For downtown Rockville, if you are heading North on I-270, you would most likely take the Falls Road exit. If you are heading South on I-270, you would take the West Montgomery Avenue exit.
